The editor of The Insider is Al Neri, a long-time state capital correspondent, columnist and television political analyst who has been quoted on the subject of Pennsylvania politics in the New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, the Philadelphia Daily News and on CNN. Neri is a frequent lecturer on politics to state associations, and he has appeared on a number of statewide television news programs, including the state-syndicated Newsmakers program, the Journalists' Roundtable and live call-in shows on the Pennsylvania Cable Network. The Insider is written with both the hard-core state political junkie and the casual political observer in mind. It appeals to both. "The Insider gives its readers a special window on the key political players in the state and how the game is continually in flux both at the state Capitol and in the four corners of Pennsylvania," Neri said. Each new issue of The Insider contains interviews with notable political celebrities, political intelligence from around the state and sharp analysis of the hottest political contests on the horizon.

A veteran political journalist, Neri also heads up Harrisburg-based Envoi Communications, the successor company to NeriVerbanac Public Affairs which was founded in 2001. Envoi Communications assists its clients in presenting its message to the media and the public as well as advancing issues before state government and the Legislature.

Neri has followed local and state government and politics for, among others, the Erie Times-News, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Philadelphia Bulletin, Philadelphia Business Journal and the Bucks County Courier-Times. He is the recipient of a number of prizes in the annual Keystone Awards for news writing.
