  1. Well worth $10!!!
I actually bought this on a whim at CVS (pharmacy), cost was same as Amazon - $9.99. It works like a dream! Only 2 nitpick comments:1. should have AC adapter instead of/in addition to batteries (takes 2 C batteries)2. lint receptacle fills up quickly and must be emptied oftenOther than those...
  2. Great item!
I had been looking for a "sweater shaver" for awhile, but couldn't find one at Walmart, so looked on here... I'm glad I saw the review for this item that said they found it at CVS, because that's where I ended up getting mine. I've been shaving sweaters, shirts, pants like crazy since I've...

Is it possible to use fusible web to iron a fleece applique onto cotton knit fabric?

I think my question sums it up, but basically I have some fleece that has a gingerbread pattern on it. I want to cut out a gingerbread cookie and attach it to a cotton knit sweater. I have fusible web and want to know if it will work.

Yes, but as the underlying knit is stretched, the bond between the two fabrics will break. Better to sew it on and forget the fusible (which will just make it stiff).

I'd probably point you at a 100 wt Malden Mills microfleece. It's a soft, easy to sew knit, wears like cast iron, and sews very easily. About the same weight as a cashmere sweater. Another possibility, one that looks more flannel-ish or suede-y is Malden's microchamois --

What's in Store | Carhartt Work In Progress

It’s been precisely 10 years since I last owned a Carhartt garment. As a high school senior, I paid $140 for a blue neoprene/cotton blend Carhartt hoodie and wore it all day, every day for months on end. It earned me the nickname Scuba Steve and I loved it.

Carhartt Work in Progress , which opened its first United States store on Thursday on Crosby Street in SoHo, is a division of the classic work-wear brand most often associated with construction workers and 1990s skaters. There are 40 Work in Progress stores worldwide, but due to licensing agreements there hasn’t been an outlet stateside until now.

Based in Basel, Switzerland, Carhartt Work in Progress shares the same sturdy spirit as its brother brand, but the fabrics are more refined, the collaborations are more high end, and the silhouettes are dramatically slimmer. For example, the company’s famed canvas work pants are in the line, but they come in an Italian duck canvas milled exclusively for Work in Progress. At the SoHo store, an entire wall is dedicated to slim, tapered trousers and the sweaters, once built tooth-and-nail tough, come in a soft, brushed cotton.

The Sweater Knitted Fabric « Mattress Springs, Spring Mattresses

With all the different types of sweater knitted fabrics and knitting equipment out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. The world of knitting can be very overwhelming for people who are not familiar with it. In this article, I will give you some pointers on the different types of yarns and sweater knit fabrics available. First, you have to understand that different yarns have different textures and qualities. There are mainly 4 types of fibers: synthetic, cellulose, protein and cellulosic. Protein fibers come from animal hair. Some common animals used in the production of protein fibers are the alpaca, the goat, rabbits, buffalo and many others. All these different types of wool have different textures and feel. Alpaca, per instance, drapes very well. Silk is a great versatile fabric that is very cool in the summer, but can be warm in the winter.Cellulose sweater knitted fabrics come from plants. Examples of cellulose fabric are cotton, linen and hemp. Like all types of fabric, these have different feels and can be used for different types of projects. Hemp, per example, is a lot tougher than cotton and can feel scratchy at times while you’re knitting. Cotton, on the other hand, is softer, but can feel heavy and inelastic at times, making knitting a lot more difficult and tough on the hands. Now, let’s talk about cellulosic sweater knit fabric. Cellulosic fabrics are made from a combination of plants and trees that have been transformed. Tencel and rayon fall into this category. If you’re allergic to wool, these offer a great non-allergenic alternative. Soy and corn based cellulosic yarns are appearing on the market and many more blends are being developed everyday.Synthetic yarns are entirely man made and contain no natural elements. Acrylic, nylon and polyester are all examples of synthetic sweater knitted fabrics . Synthetic fabrics have all kinds of textures and can be used for different purposes. The great thing about synthetic fabric is that it is often more durable than natural fabric. On the other hand, synthetics can be harder to knit and do not absorb moisture as well as natural wool. However, the added durability makes them perfect for children toys and blankets. Some synthetic fibers react very well to heat, while others don’t. Make sure that you’re familiar with the sweater knitted fabrics you’re using before you put it in the dryer.Using the right type of yarn for the right type of project is very important if you want to have the best result possible. Some types of yarns are more suited for beginner and intermediate knitters, and some are more geared towards experts, so make sure that you don’t go directly to the hardest fabrics first. Knitting can be a really fun activity once you get a hang of it, so make sure that you stay well aware of all the different types of fabrics available so you can make the best pieces possible. Use children’s story

Today, a wide range of children’s clothing is available for children of all ages. However, in the early days only a few kinds of children use existed. Children also used to dress like adults and just babies wrapped in simple clothes. Any type of clothing is also very expensive because there was little room for apparel manufacturing machines. The history of children’s fashion refers to the old, several years ago.

In the beginning the majority of clothing for adults and children are made of leather, fur or woven grass. After a few years, people began to weave cloth made of a child and many children had a pair of clothes. The costumes of the children were just, orderly and clean, compared to today s fashions?. There was very limited styles and all the children were dressed only in ancient times.
