Dress to Impress This New Year's Eve

Patch interviewed local fashion consultants to get the skinny on standing out at your New Year's Eve bash.

Sequined cocktail dresses and one-shouldered gowns are very popular this season, according to Janis Krew-Lavenstein, owner of Lasting Impressions: Fashion Shop.

"Low-back cocktail dresses are especially fashionable," Krew-Lavenstein said. "These are both looks for someone looking to make a statement. "

While New Year's Eve attire isn't color specific, she recommends jewel tones, reds and other bright colors for a festive feel.

"But you can never go wrong with the classic little black dress," she added.

For a more casual get together such as a house party, fitted jeans or leggings paired with a dressy top is a good way to get noticed without going overboard.

And New Year's Eve is the perfect time for men to show off their dapper sides.
