Larry Cohen said that since Tommy died in “Black Caesar”, a sequel was not planned at first, but since the film got such an overwhelmingly positive reaction, he decided to go to every theater that was showing the film and try to have that ending cut, which eventually caused him to make a sequel that ignored the death of Tommy in the original. So I guess you could call it a quick cash-in.

The Cleopatra Jones sequel was just a cash-in on the whole Kung-Fu craze going on at the time. The original was much higher on the quality scale, so they just made a sequel without putting much thought or effort into it.

Superfly TNT actually made an attempt to be a realistic and intelligent film. It was even written by Alex Haley.

I haven’t seen the Blacula sequel, but from what I’ve heard, it was more ambitious than the original.

That being said, Alexadra and Cherlloyd, the latter in particular, ar emy worst dressed. To be fair some people did rock up notlook god god awaful, but boring. The original elie saab was gorgeous, I am surprised that noone has worn it on the red carpet yet, at least toni collette wore a similar version to teh 2010 golden globes. Just out of interest did you see the first episode of this season x facto live shows? I watched it to see what they were wearing and kelly was wearing Atelier Versace.
