Halloween Spooktacular a real treat for Norwood kids

Halloween is a day of transformation, and Recreation Department staff members used their magic to turn the Civic Center into a quintessential – though not-too-scary – destination for the second-annual Halloween Spooktacular Saturday.

Almost as soon as the doors opened, the party was in full swing.

While a teddy bear battled a Stormtrooper in multiple rounds of Halloween golf, a little dragon was determined to pin the nose on the pumpkin.

Siblings Danny Reen, 3, Mikayla, 6, and Samantha, 7, played friendly games of cotton candy bowling and tried their hands at the Jack-O-Lantern Toss with their cousins Erin Reen, 6, and sister Lauren, 5. They helped each other, at times getting lost in the music, until they jumped into the monster stomper race. The Reens clomped and stomped, tumbling to the floor, laughing and giggling for several minutes.

DJ Lanie McEntee led the likes of Buzz Lightyear, Superman, Dorothy, and Superman in dances such as the Cha-Cha Slide, the Macarena, and Cotton Eyed Joe, but she also had a little secret up her sleeve. Not long after playing “Thriller,” McEntee paused the music for a moment to invite the youngest children to the dance floor.

H&M 2011 Fall Conscious Collection - Sustainable Styles for ...

I was so excited when I learned that H&M launched their new Conscious Collection earlier this year and even more excited when Texas’s first H&M store opened a few months ago right here in Dallas at NorthPark Center (which I do have to add is one of my favorite shopping malls in the country) so I could actually shop the collection! For H&M’s 2011 Fall Conscious Collection, I have my eyes on quite a few styles including my already acquired Dark Grey Melange Cardigan Sweater and Natural White Lace Dress (photos to come). The fabrics are well constructed, have a great fit, and feel really good. Sweaters can be a little tricky sometimes and I hate it when they’re itchy. The Dark Grey Melange Cardigan Sweater is so soft and feels great on my skin. I love that the Natural White Lace Dress can totally work as a vintage eco-wedding dress or layered with a cardigan or blazer for a more everyday look. The sustainable styles for women are so interchangeable with one another and can create a number of different outfits. I can’t wait to do some more shopping in H&M’s 2011 Fall Conscious Collection!
